HTC Wildfire 12 Month Contracts
Imagine if the HTC Desire and Nexus One could make a baby together. Now imagine that baby was stylish, inexpensive, and had a great battery life. Okay, that metaphor fell apart quickly. The point is that the HTC Wildfire is a decent mix between two great mobile phones. If you’re looking to get an HTC phone on a budget, it may be your best option. The abundance of HTC Wildfire 12 month contracts on networks such as O2 also make it an attractive option.
One of the biggest differences between the Wildfire and the other members of the HTC family is its spectacular battery life. Unlike the HTC Desire, which features a battery life of around six hours, the Wildfire can last for about twelve hours of moderate use. It’s also significantly less expensive than other HTC models.
Unfortunately, the high battery life and low price point have come at the expense of a high resolution screen – something that keeps the cost of an HTC Wildfire 12 month deal down but also reduces its attractiveness. Instead of the vivid colours seen on other HTC models, which use AMOLED technology, the Wildfire opted for a basic LCD screen. While it’s less shiny in direct sunlight than other mobile phones, it also features a dismally low resolution of 320×240. At that size, many Android apps don’t even work properly.
Nevertheless, the Wildfire has several redeeming features. Like any HTC phone, you get the fantastic Sense UI, which gives you access to useful apps like FriendStream and Leap, as well as an intuitive text highlighter. It also includes an on-board FM radio and a rear speaker, useful for playing your music with a small group of friends.
Although the HTC Wildfire includes a 5 megapixel camera, it is certainly not a major selling point. In low-light areas, picture quality is sub-par, and video recording is capped at a measly 352×288 resolution. Trying to playback even low quality videos is an exercise in frustration.
Nevertheless, the HTC Wildfire is one of the least expensive options in the high-quality mobile phone market. If you’re not picky about screen resolution, and you care more about HTC features like Sense UI and Android apps, the Wildfire may be the perfect phone for you.
