Finding the best mobile contracts is a goal that many people have but it’s difficult to know where to start. An important point to keep in mind is that what might be the best contract for one person may not be suitable for another so you need to think carefully about what you need and not just about finding the best deal available. Before you start to look for a contact deal – whether it’s in a high street shop or on a comparison site – you need to think about your budget. Unless you know your budget before you start looking it’s very difficult to find a good deal because there are so many different options available.

The next thing you need to think about is how many minutes you need. We’ve talked about this on this website already but it’s worth mentioning again because it’s so important. Try to decide how many minutes you’ll use in a month and then give yourself a bit of leeway in case you need more than you realised. If you do this then you’re much more likely to be able to find a contract that suits you.

Another thing to consider is what is included in the contract. Do you travel a lot? If so then getting some good deals on roaming is a good idea. Do you want to use 3G mobile regularly? If you do then make sure you get a contract that has enough bandwidth included in the price so you don’t get a large bill at the end of the month.

The final thing you need to think about is how long you want the contract to be. 12 month phone contracts are extremely popular, although if you need more minutes or a free gift with your phone then you might have to buy an 18 month contract. If you can avoid this however then it may be a good idea to get a 12 month one – especially if you aren’t certain which company or phone you want to stick with.
